Page Plucker recently read and reviewed Sherston’s Progress by Siegfried Sassoon for the WWI Reading Challenge in 2012.
Though this is an excellent book, and as beautifully-written as its predecessors, it can’t help but suffer a little in comparison to them. Sherston’s inner struggles can never be as powerful as his account of life in the trenches, nor as entertaining as his adventures in hunting and cricket.
