Review: REMEMBERING HEAVEN’S FACE: A MORAL WITNESS IN VIETNAM by John Balaban

Matt’s Book Blog recently read and reviewed Remembering Heaven’s Face: A Moral Witness in Vietnam by John Balaban for the challenge.  Here’s an excerpt:

“Balaban tells tough stories about his own violent outbursts on the streets of Waikiki and Saigon with toughs. After his  fight with Vietnamese thugs, his wife has a miscarriage.  Irrationally but understandably, Balaban wonders if the stress brought about  the miscarriage. Years later a friend scolds him, ‘How could bring your wife to such a terrible place.'”
