Matt’s Book Blog recently read and reviewed The Destructive War:  William Tecumseh, Stonewall Jackson, and the Americans by Charles Royster for the U.S. Civil War Reading Challenge 2011.  Here’s an excerpt:

“This is a hard book to read even for the committed reader. In fact, it sprawls, as it contains a massive number of anecdotes. In overwhelming amount and detail, Royster culled information from memoirs, letters, newspaper accounts and editorials, speeches, novels, and official records.”
