Review: HOW I FOUND THE STRONG by Margaret McMullan

JUST BOOKS reviewed How I Found the Strong by Margaret McMullan for the U.S. Civil War Reading Challenge 2011.  Here’s an excerpt:

This book was really fast read. It is set up like a diary. Shanks(Frank) is telling the story. He’s 10 years old when he starts the story. His father and brother have enlisted in the war. Shanks wants to go but they won’t let 10 year olds go. So he has to stay home with his mother and Buck, the family slave. The book covers the years 1861 to 1863.
