Reviews: GUERNICA by Dave Boling

A couple WWII challenge participants recently reviewed Guernica by Dave Boling.  Here’s a little of what they had to say; click the links to read the full reviews.

Gavin from Page247 says:

Guernica is a wonderful, carefully written novel about an important piece of European history.  It is richly layered, carefully researched and its characters will stay with me for some time.

Jo-Jo from Jo-Jo loves to read!!! says:

So much happens within this story that tells you what life was like both before and during World War II.  You can feel the tension building up as you are reading, because you know the bombing of Guernica is coming.  And the result of this bombing was devastating to all that were present.  Boling gave me such an intense visual of what it must have been like for these people that I had tears in my eyes at one point.  Getting the opportunity see a peice of the characters lives and then to experience the horror of the attack was heart-wrenching.

Review: GUERNICA by Dave Boling

guernicaMichele from A Reader’s Respite read and reviewed Guernica for the WWII Reading Challenge.  Here’s an excerpt:

This is a character driven novel and Boling fills the novel with complex, rich characters, making the reader a part of the community. You feel as if you have known these characters all of your life…their joys are your joys, their pain is your pain.

You should be aware that the passage relating the actual bombing is, perhaps, one of the most intense scenes on paper.
