Review: FROM HERE TO ETERNITY by James Jones

from here to eternityMatt from Matt’s Book Blog recently reviewed From Here to Eternity by James Jones.  Here’s an excerpt:

The episodes in the bars, the stockade, and the attack on Pearl Harbor rock, full of realism. I’m not sure how seriously I would take the melodrama and theme of Authority vs. Resistance if I read it now, but I can understand why the action, drama, brilliant scene-setting with the backdrop of Diamond Head, and excellent characters like Karen Holmes and Maggio made this novel a best-seller in 1951.
